The best beauty tips for mature skin

De beste beauty tips voor de rijpe huid

As skin matures, fat tissue decreases, muscles sag, the skin develops wrinkles and becomes drier. Furthermore, blood circulation also decreases, which can make the skin look paler and more tired. Applying makeup to mature skin is therefore very different from applying it to young skin. With the right application method, you can sometimes look years younger!

The foundation

The foundation is one of the most important points to pay attention to. You cannot prevent wrinkles, but you can slow down the skin aging process slightly. This can be done with a good anti-aging cream, apply this cream in the morning before applying your makeup. Also protect your skin well from the sun, therefore use a cream with SPF. Is there no SPF in your favorite day cream? Then mix it with some sunscreen. After a nice cream, it is time for primer, primer ensures that your makeup stays on all day and moreover the product makes your skin smoother and softer.

Foundation: less is more
The number 1 rule for applying makeup to mature skin: use as little foundation as possible. Mature skin is often much drier than young skin, good creams can help with this but a foundation can also do a lot in this area. Therefore choose a foundation that suits your skin type, often this is a foundation that is suitable for dry skin, but of course everyone is different! For the most natural result you can also use a BB- or CC Cream, this is a tinted day cream. This cream hydrates, nourishes and heals your skin and moreover gives a light coverage. A BB- or CC Cream also gives a radiant skin, which immediately makes you look younger! Concealer is best used in a cream-like formula: liquid, light and in the same color as your skin. Do not make the skin under your eyes lighter than the rest of your face, this will only accentuate this area. For bluish dark circles under the eyes you can best use a concealer with a peach or orange undertone. For red dark circles you can best go for a product with a yellow or beige undertone. The same applies here: use as little as possible, so that it accumulates less quickly in the lines and wrinkles.

Healthy flush
Do not use dark colors on your cheeks with a lot of pigment, go for a light blush in pink or orange shades. Apply the blush to the apples of your cheeks and blend the color with your fingers towards your cheekbone. Use a cream blush, because it gives you a beautiful glow, but in a natural way.

Powder
Again, do not use too much. Powder the face in the areas where it is really needed, such as in the T zone. The T-zone is actually the area around the nose, the chin and the forehead, together they form a `T`, the skin is usually a bit oilier here. Use a brush to apply the powder. By using powder, the makeup stays on longer and you will shine less throughout the day. We do not want to become too 'matte', therefore we will get started with highlighter.

Highlighter
A highlighter is a makeup product with which you can accentuate certain parts of your face. The product creates a beautiful glow over the skin, apply the highlighter to the cheekbones and on the brow bone. Use a slightly more subtle highlighter, glitter actually makes wrinkles stand out more.

Create radiant eyes
As you get older, your eyebrows sag. Beautifully drawn eyebrows can make you look years younger. Fill in your eyebrows with an eyebrow pencil or-powder and accentuate the highest point of your eyebrows. Apply the product with short, stroking movements, with the hair growth! Do not use too much and certainly do not use too dark a color, preferably a shade lighter than your hair color. After the eyebrows, it is time for eyeshadow, we want to make the eyes stand out and shine. Use especially matte eyeshadow, shiny eyeshadow accentuates the wrinkles on your eyelid. It does not matter much which color you use, for a younger look you can best go for light colors (no white). But many women can also handle dark colors well, look at what suits your eye and hair color. Want to create larger eyes? Then draw a line on the lower waterline with a white eye pencil. The waterline is the wet line above the lower lash line, by applying a light color here your eyes will look larger. Then finish the look with a layer of mascara.
