Thomas Lyle Williams begon met het produceren van een mascara, dit product werd verkocht onder de naam ‘’Lash-Brow-Ine’’ en bestond uit een mix van steenkool en vaseline. Hij had het mengsel nog wat aangepast met een eenvoudige scheikundedoos en verkocht het als eerbetoon aan zijn zus. Later werd de naam dan ook veranderd naar ‘’Maybelline’’. In 1917 werd de eerste echte mascara geproduceerd zoals wij deze nu kennen. Natuurlijk was de formule totaal anders, gelukkig is deze door de jaren heen aangepast. De mascara’s van nu bevatten namelijk vaak ook verzorgende ingrediënten waardoor je wimpers langer en gezonder worden. Hetzelfde geldt voor de andere producten van Maybelline New York. Sommige producten hebben een formule die de huid verzorgd of hydrateert, zo maak je jezelf niet alleen nog mooier, maar verzorg je tegelijkertijd de huid.


Het assortiment


Het assortiment van Maybelline New York is erg ruim, het bestaat uit lipsticks, mascara’s, blushes, bronzers, poeders, oogschaduws en nog veel meer! De producten zijn verkrijgbaar in verschillende kleuren, het merk wilt namelijk dat iedere vrouw de mogelijkheid heeft of kan hebben over alle soorten make-up. Zo heeft Maybelline bijvoorbeeld foundations voor iedere huidskleur en ieder huidtype. Het merk brengt nieuwe producten op de markt, maar blijft ook oude, populaire en vertrouwde producten verkopen. Zo vind je de Great Lash Mascara bijvoorbeeld al jaren in het assortiment, maar ook de Color Sensational lipsticks en de bekende Maybelline Total Temptation producten zijn niet meer weg te denken. Een populaire foundation uit het Maybelline assortiment is de Fit Me foundation. Deze is verkrijgbaar in ontzettend veel kleuren en is ook nog eens te vinden met formule voor de droge en vette huid. De producten zijn mooi verpakt, maar worden verkocht voor een eerlijke en goede prijs. Zo zijn de producten toegankelijk voor jong en oud! Je kunt de Maybelline make-up producten met elkaar combineren voor een complete look, maar je kunt ze ook los van elkaar gebruiken. Het merk werkt daarnaast ook samen met celebrities zoals Gigi Hadid, daar is de populaire Maybelline Gigi Hadid make-up collectie uit ontstaan.
